The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has recently taken a key decision regarding the recruitment of government jobs. The Commission is now bringing a major change in the way several exams are conducted.
From now on, a preliminary exam will be conducted only if the number of applications received for a job notification exceeds 200 times the number of posts mentioned in the notification.
Amaravati, June 28: The APPSC has recently taken a crucial decision regarding the recruitment of government jobs in various departments across the state. The Commission is set to introduce a major change in the examination process for several of its recruitment drives.
From now on, a preliminary exam will be conducted only if the number of applications received for a notification exceeds 200 times the number of posts advertised.
For example, if APPSC issues a notification for 100 posts, the Commission will conduct Prelims and Mains exams only if it receives more than 20,000 applications. This change is aimed at filtering candidates more efficiently.
Currently, regardless of the number of job vacancies, if the number of applications crosses 25,000, APPSC conducts Prelims and Mains exams for those posts. However, the Commission believes that this leads to a waste of time and higher expenditure.
Therefore, APPSC has proposed to the government that a Preliminary exam should be conducted only if the number of applicants exceeds 200 times the number of vacancies. If the government approves this proposal, many APPSC recruitments may involve just a single exam instead of multiple stages.
