To prevent misuse of NRI sponsorship for seats in professional courses, the KEA has issued a list of mandatory documents required to claim the quota. This move comes in response to incidents of fake sponsorship reported last year in neighboring states.
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has mandated that students applying for professional course seats under the NRI ward/sponsor quota must submit a family tree document attested by the respective tahsildar.
This measure aims to prevent the misuse of NRI sponsorship for seats in professional courses. In response to fake sponsorship cases reported in neighboring states last year, the KEA has released a list of mandatory documents required to claim the quota.
“Last year, following the suspicion over the authenticity of the NRI sponsor, we had to send the documents to the respective consulate generals. This year to avoid such exercises we have asked the candidates to submit the required documents and this was informed to students during the registration for KCET itself,” said H Prasanna Executive Director of KEA.
According to KEA, the following mandatory documents are required for NRI ward claim:
a) Ward Certificate as per Annexure-6 E-Information
Bulletin-2025
b) Family Tree signed by Tahasildar (Family Tree signed by
Notary or Affidavit of Relationship will not be accepted)
c) Embassy certificate of the Sponsorer-Certificate signed by
the Indian Consulate General with Embassy seal – issued
within last 06 months (Embassy certificate signed by the
Notary will not be accepted)
d) NRI/OCI holder Bank Passbook, Passport, VISA /
Resident VISA of Sponsorer
e) NEET Score Card
f) NEET Hall-ticket
g) KEA UGCET/NEET-2025 Online Application Form( Final
Copy)
h) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card of the candidate
i) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate
Document verification for candidates applying under the NRI quota for medical, dental, and AYUSH courses through the NRI Ward claim will continue until July 10 at the KEA office in Bengaluru.
